Honor Guard & Color Guard

The Fort Wayne Police Department  Honor and Color Guard represents the department at various public ceremonies and private functions. These officers are selected from members of the department and are highly trained in ceremonial duties.

The department requires at least a 2-week notice for any request submitted via the online form. If your request time is shorter than 2-weeks please contact us directly to check on officer availability.

The Fort Wayne Police Department Pipe and Drum Corps is a group of talented officers that often perform in conjunction with the Honor Guard at various functions and ceremonies. They are highly professional and are often requested to perform by outside agencies.

Lost and found

REPORTING A LOST OR STOLEN ITEM:
  • It is recommended that you call FWPD’s teleservice line at 260-427-1340 to file a report. Please include detailed information to expedite finding the owner and return of  property.
SUBMITTING LOST ITEM TO POLICE DEPARTMENT:
  • If you find a lost item within Fort Wayne city limits and would like to submit to the Fort Wayne Police Department, please call 260-427-1340.

Found items can be retrieved, by appointment only, from the FWPD Property Room-Monday through Friday, 8:00 am-6:00 p.m. Please call 260-427-2034 to schedule an appointment. Per Indiana state law, found items are held at the police department for 30 days before disposal. Items that have a value of  $100 or more are sent to online auction.

Prior to coming to the police department to claim a lost item you must have the following items to show proof of ownership and identification:
  1. A valid state issued photo ID
  2. Proof of Ownership (at least one below):
    • Police report number
    • Purchase receipt
    • Description of item in detail
    • Photograph that shows possession of lost item

Local criminal history request

Please visit the Police Desk to complete a local criminal history request, a valid picture ID is required.

The fee is $7.00.

Acceptable forms of ID include: Valid State ID Card or Driver’s License, Valid Military ID Card, Valid passport with the Homeland Security Seal stamped. Questions can be directed to 260-427-1222 or 260-427-1340.

This local criminal history request only reflects criminal history from the Fort Wayne Police Department. Should you need a criminal history request form from other agencies contact the Indiana State Police for a Limited Criminal History (LCH).

This Limited Criminal History (LCH) from the Indiana State Police contains only felony and Class A misdemeanor arrests in Indiana. Completeness of the information is based on county participation.

To request an LCH, you can either pay online with a credit card or submit a money order payable to “State of Indiana” in person or by mail to:

Request a Police Report

Police reports can be obtained at the Police Desk and are 10 cents ($0.10) per page. A Valid ID is required to obtain the report. A Public Access request forms are also available and processed by the supervisor. Questions can be directed to 260-427-1222 or 260-427-1340.

FWPD's Victim Assistance Unit partnered with the Homicide Unit to create the project "After the Yellow Tape".After the yellow tape

After the Yellow Tape was created to feature homicide cases that are missing that one piece to solve the case and bring justice for the families. If you have any information pertaining to the videos please contact the FWPD Detective Bureau at 260-427-1201. Often times families have no idea what happens when the yellow tape is up and what will be happening with their loved one’s case. Additional videos will be created in the future that will feature a new cold case homicide.
