Location: 1300 block of Archer Avenue
Time: 1044 hours
Details/Summary:
In August 2022, the Indiana Department of Child Services and the Fort Wayne Police Department became aware of potential child abuse and fraud involving Katherine Jackson. There was not enough evidence to file charges at that time. However, more evidence became available and child’s health began improving once the children were removed from Ms. Jackson and placed with Foster Parents. Detective Miranda Lasley, an investigator with the Crimes Against Persons Section (CAPS), was assigned to the case. Detective Lasley determined that Ms. Jackson allegedly told people that her child was terminally ill to elicit financial support even though her child was not. Ms. Jackson also elicited assistance from various charities including Go Fund Me and at least one trip via Make-A-Wish. Subsequently, an arrest warrant was issued for Ms. Jackson. She was taken into custody on February 06, 2025 and is awaiting trial.
Detective Lasley was assisted by numerous physicians to include a Child Abuse specialist from the Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital, the Indiana Department of Child Services, and the Dr. Bill Lewis Center For Children.
