UPDATE:
Shortly after 8pm, the individual was taken into custody without injury. The individual will be transport to a local hospital for a mental evaluation. In an effort to ensure the residence was safe, officers from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit were request. During the incident the individual made reference to making a device. Technicians will search the residence to ensure no hazards exist. The Fort Wayne Fire Department and Three Rivers Ambulance Authority were on scene as well during the incident.

Details/Summary:
The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a domestic related incident in the 2700 block of Poinsette Dr. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the individual and he started making threats. The individual then went back inside the house and refused to exit. Officers were able to make contact with the individual by telephone and several attempts were made to have him exit. Officers then requested assistance from the Crisis Response Team (Negotiators) and the Emergency Services Team (Tactical Officers).

The community is asked to avoid the area while officers attempt to end this incident safely. At this time there is no threat to the general community.
