Correction:

The juvenile driver who was arrested yesterday (2/26/24) in connection to the pursuit crash that occurred at Jefferson and Broadway at roughly 7:50 pm is in fact an adult, Yar Shin.  Yar was admitted to the hospital due to injuries from the crash in non-life threatening condition.

Vehicle Crash with Injuries

On Feb. 26, 2024 at approximately 7:50 pm a Fort Wayne Police officer attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was driving recklessly in the area of Jefferson and Union St.  The suspect vehicle refused to stop and comply initiating a pursuit.  The suspect vehicle fled east on Jefferson and crashed into an unsuspected motorist traveling south on Broadway.  An adult female and a juvenile were occupants of the vehicle traveling south on Broadway and were taken to a local hospital in non life-threatening condition.  The juvenile driver of the suspect vehicle was arrested. 

The intersection of Jefferson and Broadway is currently closed while the scene is being processed and debris cleared.  The Fatal Accident Crash Team was paged to the scene and took over the investigation. This incident remains under investigation by the FWPD and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
