Preliminary Charges: Domestic Battery to a child under 14 (level 5 Felony)

Preliminary Charges: Neglect of a Dependent (level 5 Felony)

Preliminary Charges: Strangulation (level 6 Felony)

 

Details/Summary:

On January 5, 2024 the Fort Wayne Police Department received a report of an adult male who had allegedly battered and strangled his 13-year-old son.  This occurred on the evening of January 4, 2024 in the area of 4000 Sherman Blvd.  An investigation was initiated, and the suspect was identified as Anthony James Seffernick, a resident of Allen County.  On Friday January 19, 2024 at approximately 1 pm, Officers from the Fort Wayne Police Department and Detective Sergeant James Haupert from the Crimes Against Persons (CAPS) unit went to 4000 Sherman Blvd and took Seffernick into custody.  He is preliminarily charged with Felony Domestic Battery, Neglect of a Dependent, and Strangulation.  We thank the staff of the Department of Child Services and the Dr. Bill Lewis Center for Children for their support and cooperation in this investigation.
