Suspect Arrested #1: Otha Muirhead, 36 years of age

Preliminary Charges:  Child Solicitation, level 5 felony

Details:

On Nov. 8, 2023 the Fort Wayne Police Department received a report of an adult male suspect who had followed a 12 year old male victim in and out of a bathroom at the library.  Sometime later, the male suspect passed the victim a sexually explicit note asking him to engage in sexual activity.  An investigation was initiated by Det./Sgt. James Haupert of the Crimes Against Persons unit (CAPS).  During the investigation, the suspect was identified as Otha Muirhead, a resident of Allen County.  Muirhead was apprehended on December 1st when a warrant was issued for his arrest.  The FWPD recommends that parents be mindful of these dangers and accompany children to the bathroom in public places.  We thank the security personnel of the Allen County Library and the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission for their vital assistance and cooperation in this investigation
