Barricaded Suicidal Subject

Date: December 12th, 2022

Location: 2600 Lavender Dr.

Time: 8:40 am

Details:

The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the block of 2600 Lavender Dr. today at 8:40 am regarding a suicidal subject.  Initial information received from dispatch indicated that the adult male suicidal subject made threats to kill himself and his girlfriend.  The complainant party advised that the suicidal subject possibly had a gun in the residence.  Dispatch told the complainant party and anyone else in the residence to leave, which they did prior to police arrival; leaving the suicidal subject alone in the residence.

Numerous attempts were made to get the subject to exit the residence voluntarily, but were unsuccessful.  A specialty team call out ensued, with the Emergency Services Team and the Crisis Response Team making the scene.  More attempts were made to get the subject to exit the home, but he refused.  An Emergency Detention Order was obtained to evaluate the mental health and safety of the subject.  A chemical agent was deployed and tactical units made entry into the home, placing the subject into custody without incident.  The subject was then transported to the hospital for a psychological evaluation.

This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
