Fatal One Vehicle Traffic Accident

The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred at 10:10 am March 7th, 2022 at Lafayette/Jefferson Blvd. Preliminary information indicates that the solo driver of the motorcycle was traveling Northbound on Lafayette St. when he lost control of the motorcycle and struck a fire hydrant and a sign on the west side of the roadway, South of Jefferson Blvd. Roadway conditions were wet at the time of the accident.
The driver of the motorcycle, an adult male, was suffering from life threatening injuries at the scene. He was rendered aid at the scene and transported to a local hospital, where he passed away, shortly after arrival. The Fatal Accident Crash Team made the scene and closed all westbound traffic on Lewis St. from Lafayette St. while processing the scene. The roadway has since, been reopened.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department FACT team, Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecutors Office.
