Vehicle Crash Involving Pedestrian

On Tuesday, 12/07/2021, at approximately 9:29 PM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the intersection of Coliseum Blvd. and Lake Avenue reference a female lying in the roadway. Officers arrived and located the female/adult victim lying in the middle of Coliseum Blvd. with a severe injury to her arm. Officers determined the victim’s injuries were the result of a vehicle crash. Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital in serious condition. Upon arriving at the hospital her condition was downgraded to life-threatening by a physician.
Preliminary information indicates a passenger car was traveling southbound on Coliseum Blvd. when the pedestrian victim walked into the path of the vehicle while attempting to cross Coliseum Blvd. Evidence suggests the victim was attempting to cross the roadway in an area where pedestrian crossing is not intended. The driver and front seat passenger of the passenger car were not injured in the crash. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
Southbound Coliseum Blvd. will be closed to all traffic at Lake Avenue while investigators process the scene. This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
