Arrest Made in Hit-Skip Vehicle Crash Involving Pedestrians
Arrested: John Edward Rizzo Jr. Male / Age 48
Count 1: Leaving the Scene of an Accident Causing Catastrophic Bodily Injury a Level 4 Felony
Count 2: Leaving the Scene of an Accident Causing Serious Bodily Injury a Level 6 Felony
Details:
Investigators made an arrest this afternoon reference the Hit-Skip Crash that occurred on 10/03/2020 in the 2300 Block of Getz Road. The crash involved two pedestrians and the driver of the suspect vehicle fled the scene. John Edwards Rizzo Jr. was arrested and charged with the two felony counts listed above.
Investigators received numerous tips from the public reference vehicles that matched the suspect vehicle description. A Fort Wayne Police officer located the suspect vehicle at an apartment complex in the southwest quadrant of the city. Investigators interviewed the registered owner of the vehicle today and he was arrested at the conclusion of the interview. Mr. Rizzo is currently incarcerated at the Allen County Jail pending his initial court appearance.
The Fort Wayne Police Department wants to thank the public for the tips they provided and the media for airing the suspect vehicle description. This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
