Fatal Shooting Investigation

On Friday, 08/14/2020, at approximately 12:18 AM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 4900 block of South Harrison Street reference a shooting. A caller advised dispatch a male had been shot. Officers arrived on scene and located the male/adult victim inside a residence. The victim was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his chest and abdomen. Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital in serious condition. Upon arriving at the hospital the victim was pronounced deceased by a physician.
Initial information indicates the shooting occurred inside the residence. There were several witnesses inside the residence at the time of the shooting. Detectives are in the process of interviewing those witnesses now in an effort to obtain suspect information.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the deceased identity along with the cause and manner of death. This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
