Life-Threatening Crash Involving Motorcyclist

Date:  07/06/2022

Time:  10:37 PM

Location:  5500 block North Clinton Street

Victim:  Male/Adult

Details:

On Wednesday, 07/06/2022, at approximately 10:37 PM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the area of North Clinton Street and East Washington Center Road reference a vehicle crash with injuries. Witnesses reported the crash involved a passenger car and a motorcycle. Officers arrived and located the driver of the motorcycle lying in the 5500 block of North Clinton Street. Paramedics transported the male/adult driver of the motorcycle to a local hospital in serious condition. Upon arriving at the hospital his condition was downgraded to life-threatening by a physician.

Preliminary information indicates the driver of the motorcycle (sole occupant) was traveling southbound on North Clinton Street and the passenger car was traveling northbound on North Clinton Street. It appears the driver of the passenger car failed to yield the right-of-way and turned left in front of the motorcycle while attempting to turn into Bishop Dwenger High School.

The driver of the passenger car remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. He and a front seat passenger did not report any injuries. Investigators indicated it does not appear alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash. The driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet.

This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
