On Saturday July 8, 2023 at approximately 1522 hours Dispatchers received a 911 call about a possible active shooter at Glenbrook Mall. Initial witness stated they heard 3-4 shots inside the mall near H&M/Grade A Tattoo. Dispatchers then received information that at least one individual was shot during the incident.
When officers arrived, a single adult male was located suffering a non-threatening gunshot wound. Initial officers on scene applied a tourniquet and rendered first aid until Firefighters and TRAA medics arrived and took over care. Officers then cleared the remainder of the Mall for any possible suspects or other victim's. During this Officers learned that the suspect had fled from the mall directly after the shooting occurred.
At this time It is believed that this incident was isolate between two known individuals, and was not a random act meant to inflict widespread pain of suffering. At the time of the initial broadcast, the suspect in the incident did contact 911 requesting to turn himself in and speak with detectives. As of the time of this press release that individual has yet to come forward and make contact with police.
Glenbrook mall officials have made the decision to remain closed for the remainder of today, Saturday July 8th, and will reopen normal business hours tomorrow, Sunday July 9th.
This incident is still an on ongoing investigation with the Fort Wayne Police Department, and Allen County Prosecutors office.
