On November 18^th, 2020, at approximately 11:12 pm, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to 2506 Miner St, Apt 3, regarding a domestic dispute between an adult male and adult female. When officers arrived on scene the male had fled the area. The officers took a statement from the female and returned to service.

A few hours later at approximately 2:30 am on November 19^th, another call came from the same area in reference to a disturbance. The same female from the earlier call stated the male returned and broke into her home through a window and was still in the home. When officers arrived on scene the female came outside to talk with officers. This is when the male locked the door behind her and would not let anyone in. At this time officers learned there was a total of 6 juveniles in the home ranging in ages from 14yrs to 1yr old. Officers made multiple attempts to contact the male suspect. The suspect would not respond and talk with police. At approximately 3:01 am contact was made and the suspect said he was not coming out. Although he was willing to let the older children go, the older children would not leave without the younger ones.

At this time the Fort Wayne Police Crisis Response Team (CRT), Emergency Services Team (EST), and Aerial Support Unit (ASU) were requested due to their enhanced capabilities to respond to this type of situation. CRT was able to make contact with the male and established a good line of communication. During this dialog the children started to come out of the house in different groupings. Eventually all the children had exited the home and were safe under police care with their mother. To the best of officer’s knowledge, no one was left in the home but the suspect. CRT continued talking with the suspect and at approximately 5:02 am he surrendered and exited the home. He was placed into custody without incident by our EST.

The female who originally called police sustained minor injuries prior to police arrival. The children and the male suspect did not sustain any known physical injuries at this time.

Per protocol, this incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutors office. There is nothing further at this time.
