Three Car Critical Injury Accident

Date: 8/9/2022

Location: E. State Blvd./Hobson Rd.

Time: 8:04am

Details:

The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a three vehicle accident that occurred 8/9/22 at 8:04am at the intersection of E.State Blvd. and Hobson Rd.  Dispatch received multiple calls that a “black Cadi was speeding and blew two traffic lights” in the area of State and Beacon.  A short time later an accident occurred at E.State and Hobson involving a black Cadillac.  Preliminary information indicates that the black Cadillac was traveling East on State colliding with another vehicle that was traveling South on Hobson, causing that vehicle to crash into another vehicle that was North on Hobson.  After the collision, the driver of the Cadillac took off on foot from the accident and was later apprehended by Northeast FWPD Officers blocks from the crash.  It appears that speed and alcohol are factors in the collision.  The suspect driver was taken to a local hospital to be treated for potential injuries and tested for drugs and alcohol.  The adult female driver of the vehicle that was south bound was taken to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.  The male adult driver of the north bound vehicle was uninjured.  Charges are pending for the suspect driver.

The State/Hobson intersection remains closed at this time until the scene is thoroughly processed.

This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department Fatal Accident Crash Team and the Prosecutor’s Office.
