Time:  7:10 PM

Location:  West Washington Center Road and West Street

Details:

On Sunday, 05/01/2022, at approximately 7:10 PM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the intersection of West Washington Center Road and West Street reference a vehicle crash with injuries. Dispatch received several calls indicating the crash involved three vehicles and a motorcycle.

Officers arrived on scene and observed the crash involved a motorcycle, a sport utility vehicle (SUV), and two passenger cars. Paramedics transported the male/adult driver of the motorcycle to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The female/adult rear passenger on the motorcycle was transported to a local hospital in serious condition. A female/adult front seat passenger of the SUV was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. The drivers and passengers of the remaining vehicles did not require any medical treatment at the scene.

Preliminary information indicates the motorcycle was traveling westbound on Washington Center Road and slowed for traffic near West Street. The passenger car traveling westbound behind the motorcycle failed to slow down and rear-ended the motorcycle. The crash forced the motorcycle into oncoming traffic and it struck a passenger car traveling eastbound on Washington Center Road. The passenger car that rear-ended the motorcycle crossed into oncoming traffic and stuck a SUV traveling eastbound on Washington Center Road.

The drivers of all three vehicles remained at the scene and are cooperating with investigators. The driver and passenger of the motorcycle were not wearing helmets at the time of the crash. This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
