Victim: Female Adult
On Wednesday, 09/25/2013, at approximately 7:26 PM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the intersection of Warsaw Street and Congress Avenue reference a shooting. Officers arrived on scene and located a female/adult victim sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked in the 4500 block of Warsaw Street. The victim was conscious and appeared to be suffering from several apparent gunshot wounds.
Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital in serious condition. Upon arriving at the hospital, the victim was downgraded to critical condition by a physician.
Preliminary reports indicate the victim was sitting in the driver’s seat of the vehicle and a male witness was sitting in the passenger seat when the shooting occurred. Witnesses indicated a dark colored SUV traveling southbound on Warsaw Street pulled up next the victim’s vehicle and fired several gunshots. The male witness in the passenger seat of the vehicle was not injured. Witnesses reported at least one window on the passenger side of suspect SUV was shattered. Detectives are in the process of determining what caused the shattered window on the SUV. The SUV was last seen fleeing southbound on Warsaw Street. Detectives are currently interviewing witnesses and canvassing the neighborhood. Crime Scene Technicians are processing the scene and collecting evidence. No arrests have been made and there are no suspects at this time.
