Victim: Adult Male / Critical Condition
Fort Wayne, Ind - On Saturday, September 21, 2013, at approximately 7:07 PM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 2700 block of E. Paulding Rd. on a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wound(s). The male was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, where he remains in critical condition.
The initial investigation has revealed that several neighbors called 911 after hearing gun shots and locating the victim. Numerous shell casings were located around the area where the victim was found, but at this point no weapons have been recovered. Witnesses reported seeing three male blacks, wearing all black, flee the area and leave in a white four door car. There are no further descriptions at this point. No suspects are in custody or have been detained, and it is too early to determine a motive or if this is gang related.
A K-9 track was not attempted due to not having any K-9 officers on-duty. There were no other injuries reported.
Crime Scene Technicians are currently processing the scene, searching for and collecting any evidence. Detectives are also canvassing the area and speaking with witnesses, and will be interviewing the victim at the earliest opportunity. Detectives are also searching for any video footage from any nearby businesses. Anyone with any information is asked to contact police.
This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
