Details: Fort Wayne Police responded to the 5800 block of Winchester Road on the reported head-on collision involving two motor vehicles. Once on scene officers observed a Toyota Camry and a Chevy Venture van sustaining heavy front end damage to both as a result of the impact.
The van was occupied by the driver and a front seated passenger. The driver, an adult female was trapped in her seat requiring extrication which was handled by fire personnel from station #5. It took fire fighters approximately 25-minutes to extricate the driver from her vehicle. Her passenger received minor injures and did require extrication.
The driver of the Toyota was not trapped or pinned in her vehicle. All three individuals were transported from the scene requiring two ambulances to a local hospital where it was determined that the driver of the Toyota, a female adult was in critical condition. The remaining patients were in stable condition. Investigators believe drugs and or alcohol could be a factor in this incident.
Winchester Road was closed between Shamrock Road and Winn Avenue for over two hours during the investigation.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department.
