Barricade Investigation 600 W State Blvd June 8 2013
Incident Date: 06/08/2013
Incident Time: 10:31 PM
Incident Location: 600 W. State Blvd.
Subject: Male / Adult
On Saturday, June 8, 2013, at approximately 10:31 PM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 600 block of W. State Blvd on a report of an armed disturbance. Preliminary information indicated the armed suspect, an adult male, was making threats to harm others while armed with a knife. When officers arrived, the male was inside a home with several other people. Officers tried calling the occupants out of the home using a loud speaker, but the occupants did not exit.
The Emergency Services Team (EST) and Crisis Response Team (CRT) were called to assist in the investigation due to the possibility of hostages. After some time, EST and CRT team members were able to successfully hail the occupants out of the home using a loud speaker, and determined that everyone inside the home was safe. The adult male/suspect was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
At this time there are charges. All of the other occupants who were hailed out of the home and who were detained by police were released.
The subject was transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation.
The 600 block of W. State Blvd, and Goshen Ave between W. State Blvd and Sherman Blvd, remained closed during the investigation.
There is nothing further at this time.
