Date/Time of Incident: January 28, 8:10 p.m.
Location of Incident: 2500 Block of West Coliseum Blvd Access Road
Victim: Adult Male, 27 years old - Critical condition - upgraded to stable condition at the hospital
A semi tractor with a dual trailer turned eastbound onto the frontage access road along the 2500 block of West Coliseum Blvd. The driver did not see a pedestrian along the side of the road. The pedestrian was struck and run over by the semi. At the time of the crash, the semi was traveling at a low speed. Medics arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital in critical condition. Once at the hospital, the victim was upgraded to critical, but stable condition.
At the time of the accident, the National Weather Service listed the visibility at less than a quarter of a mile with drizzle in the greater Fort Wayne area. These factors likely played a factor in this crash. The victim was wearing dark, non-reflective clothing at the time of the crash.
This incident remains under investigation by members of the Fort Wayne Police Department FACT Team.
