Bank Robbery Investigation

Date/Time:  November 29, 2012 / 8:14 AM

Location:   6448 Stellhorn Road

Victim:     ProFed Federal Credit Union

Loss:       Cash Loss

Fort Wayne, Ind. – On Thursday, November 29, 2012 at approximately 8:14 a.m. the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the ProFed Federal Credit Union at 6448 Stellhorn Road reference a report of a bank robbery.  An employee of the credit union was ambushed as she arrived in the parking lot by three subjects who forced her inside the credit union at gun point.  There were two other employees inside the credit union.  The three employees were battered by the perpetrators, and each was bound at the hands and ankles.  None of the bank employees required medical attention at the scene.  Prior to fleeing the scene, the perpetrators fired their weapons inside the credit union.

A customer of the bank had arrived during the robbery and was waiting outside of the bank at the drive-up window when they observed the three perpetrators as they fled from the rear of the credit union.  This customer/witness immediately placed a call to 911 providing responding officers with suspect descriptions and a direction of travel.  A canine track was attempted but was unsuccessful in locating the perpetrators.  The track led officers south behind the credit union into a residential area and terminated there.  Residents are encouraged to contact police if they witnessed any suspicious activity this morning.

Crime Scene Technicians remain at the scene at this time processing the scene for potential evidence, and members of the Northeast Indiana Bank Robbery Task Force are presently interviewing witnesses and bank employees.

Investigators have obtained still-images captured via bank surveillance and are hopeful that someone will come forward with any information.  Anyone having information about this incident is asked to contact police, or Crime Stoppers at 260 436-STOP (7867) where a cash reward is possible for information received.

This incident remains under investigation by the Northeast Indiana Bank Robbery Task Force.  This task force is composed of investigators with the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Sheriff Department, Indiana State Police, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
