Location:     3902 S. Clinton Street
Victim:         Wells Fargo Bank
Loss:            Cash Loss

On Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at approximately 3:06 pm the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the Wells Fargo Bank at 3902 S. Clinton Street reference a report of a bank robbery.  Witnesses reported that a male subject entered the bank, approached the counter and displayed a knife while demanding cash from the teller.  The perpetrator fled with an undisclosed amount of cash using the S. Clinton Street exit of the bank, and he continued fleeing on foot behind the bank.  He was last seen fleeing in a southwesterly direction behind the neighboring McDonald's restarant.  There were several customers inside the bank as well as several bank employees.  There were no injuries reported at the scene.

A canine track was attempted but was unsuccessful in locating the perpetrator.  Crime Scene Technicians remain at the scene at this time processing the scene for potential evidence, and members of the Northeast Indiana Bank Robbery Task Force are presently interviewing witnesses and bank employees.

The perpetrator is described as a male/black, with a unique pink discoloration on his lower lip; last seen wearing a white ballcap, slightly tinted glasses, and a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt.  Witnesses further reported that the perpetrator was using a cane, but investigators believe the cane may have been a prop.

Investigators have obtained still-images captured via bank surveillance and are hopeful that someone will recognize the robbery suspect.  Anyone knowing the identity of the suspect is asked to contact the Fort Wayne Police Department, or Crime Stoppers at 260 436-STOP (7867) where a cash reward is possible for information received.

This incident remains under investigation by the Northeast Indiana Bank Robbery Task Force.  This task force is composed of investigators with the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Sheriff Department, Indiana State Police, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
