Critical Injury Accident
Date/Time of Incident: February 12th, 2012 08:28pm
Location of Incident: 5900 E. State Blvd
Victim: Adult Female (Critical but Stable Condition)
At 08:28pm on February 12th, 2012, The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 5900 block of E. State Blvd. on a report of a single vehicle injury accident. First responders arrived and located an adult female who was the driver and sole occupant of a red 2001 Ford Taurus, and who was declared to be in stable condition by paramedics on the scene. The victim was rushed to a local hospital, where her condition was later downgraded to critical but stable.
It is believed the Ford Taurus was traveling eastbound on E. State Blvd., and witnesses reported the vehicle was straddling both eastbound lanes at an extremely high rate of speed. The vehicle then left the roadway and crashed head-on into a tree.
Investigators believe speed and alcohol to be factors in this crash, as the driver was found to have a BAC of .31% at the hospital.
Eastbound traffic was closed at E. State Blvd and Grandeur Dr.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department Fatal Alcohol Crash Team (F.A.C.T.), and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
