Attempted Bank Robbery Investigation

On Thursday, January 26, 2012 at approximately 6:44 a.m. the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to 5217 Merchandise Drive reference a report of a possible bank robbery attempt. A morning employee arrived at the bank and while in the parking lot, the employee was approached from behind by a male subject who then forced him inside the bank. It is believed that there were two subjects involved in this attempted robbery. Unable to obtain cash, both suspects fled the bank and the area on foot. At this time, a description is available for one suspect only:
Male/possibly Hispanic - having an accent particular to a native Spanish-speaker, approximately 5’9”, unknown build; last seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt.
A weapon was not displayed, but the threat of a weapon was made. No customers were present when this incident occurred, and there were no injuries reported at the scene. This incident remains under investigation by the North East Indiana Bank Robbery Task Force. The task force is composed of members of the following law enforcement agencies: City of Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Sheriff Department, Indiana State Police, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
