Officers Reel In Wire Thieves

On Monday, November 14, 2011 at approximately 12:36 a.m. officers with the City of Fort Wayne Police Department made three arrests in connection with a theft investigation at 7720 Opportunity Drive, Shambaugh & Sons.
While surveying the area, officers with the department’s Neighborhood Response Team watched as three men pulled up in a vehicle, and with a flash light entered the fenced-in property at 7720 Opportunity Drive and began handling material inside on the property. The men were all dressed in dark clothing and one was wearing a stocking hat, and another was wearing a face mask. While the officers coordinated a perimeter of the area, they watched as the perpetrators rolled out a large spool of wire, throw wire over and outside of the fenced-in area, pull wire from under the fence, and fill a wheel barrow with material and push it outside of the fenced-in area. Upon the officers’ approach, the perpetrators fled the scene. All three perpetrators were quickly apprehended; one was found trying to hide in a nearby pond.

LYONS, ROBERT FRANKLIN JR, age 44, Fort Wayne
Theft, Resisting Law Enforcement, Warrant Served: Driving While Suspended
COLEMAN, ROOSEVELT H JR, age 55, Fort Wayne
This incident remains under investigation with the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
