Barricaded Suspect Surrenders Peacefully / 2900 Santa Rosa Drive

The Fort Wayne Police Department was dispatched to a suicidal subject who was located in his residence in the 2900 block of Santa Rosa Drive. Officers were sent to the home after a friend reported having a phone conversation with the suspect that led him to believe the suspect might be suicidal. On scene officers were able to determine that the suspect was in fact armed with a rifle and suicidal.
The department’s CRT and EST teams were activated and took over the efforts of peacefully resolving the standoff. At approximately 3:00 p.m. CRT team officers were successful in talking the suspect into disarming himself and surrendering to officers without incident. The suspect was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and assistance.
During the incident several streets were blocked to ensure control and safety to the general public. Those streets included:
Hobson at Vance, Hobson at Kenwood, Santa Rosa at Clara, Santa Rosa at Vance, Beacon at Glenwood, Beacon at Kenwood, and Beacon at Charlotte.
