Critical Injury Accident, Vehicle Collides with Semi-Trailer Truck / W Jefferson Blvd & Broadway Street

This morning, Thursday, June 23, 2011 at approximately 12:48 a.m., the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the intersection of W. Jefferson Blvd. and Broadway Street reference a report of an automobile accident involving a semi-trailer truck.
Officers arrived on the scene and located the driver and sole occupant of a black-colored 2000 Chrysler Sebring. The driver, an adult female, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The driver of the semi-trailer truck was reportedly uninjured.
At this time, investigators with the Fatal Crash Team (FACT) have learned that the Chrysler Sebring was traveling south bound on Broadway Street approaching W. Jefferson Blvd. and reportedly failed to stop at the red light colliding with the semi-trailer truck that was traveling east bound on W. Jefferson Blvd. It is estimated that eighty (80) to one hundred-twenty (120) gallons of diesel fuel spilled onto the roadway.
At this time, no other contributing factors to the accident have been identified, and the incident remains under investigation by the Fatal Crash Team (FACT), and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office. The FACT is comprised of officers from the Fort Wayne Police Department, and the New Haven Police Department.
