On Friday December 31st, 2021 approximately 2:32 PM, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a residence located at the 10000 block of Maple Springs CV in reference to a mentally ill individual. It was reported he committed a battery to one of the residence. As officers arrived on the scene, they were advised that a male at this residence had access to firearms. All of the residence, except the subject, had exited the home.
Officers attempted to make contact with the male with no success. After the failed attempts to make contact with the adult male, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department Emergency Services Team (EST), Crisis Response Team (CRT), and Air Support Unit (ASU) were dispatched to the scene. CRT was able to make contact with the male and successfully interacted with the male to come out on his own. He exited the home at 7:43 PM and was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to a local hospital for mental health evaluation.
This incident was investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department.
