On November 8, 2020 at Approximately 6:18 pm Officers responded to the 1400 Block of Colerick in reference to a reported shooting. Communications was getting numerous calls reporting that neighbors had heard numerous gunshots in the area at the time of the reported shooting.

As Officers arrived on scene they were getting some information that there may be 2 victims that were shot. As Officers then were advised that there was only 1 victim and they located an adult male that was suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers first on scene began to render aid to the victim until Paramedics and Fire Personnel arrived on scene. Paramedics arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries at this time. A short time later after arriving at the hospitals they were advised that the victim had been downgraded to now having life threatening injuries.

Fort Wayne Police Department Homicide Detectives along with Crime Scene Technicians were called to the scene to further invest the incident. Detectives began to speak with witnesses upon their arrival and Crime Scene Technicians arrived and began to process the scene for any possible evidence associated with this incident.

During this investigation Colerick was closed between Reed and Holton and will be opened upon completion of the investigation. This incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department, and the Allen County Prosecutor's Office. Assisting in this incident were the Fort Wayne Fire Department and Three Rivers Ambulance Authority.
