Hit-Skip Vehicle Crash Involving Pedestrians

Details: 

On Saturday, 10/03/2020, at approximately 4:32 AM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 2300 block of Getz Road reference an assist for medics. Officers arrived and were informed two male/adult victims were located along the roadway. One of the victims suffered a head injury and the other victim suffered a leg injury. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment. A physician reported the victim with the head injury had life-threatening injuries. The victim with the leg injury is in serious condition.   

Investigators located debris at the scene indicating the victims were struck by a vehicle. The suspect vehicle failed to stop and fled the scene. Evidence suggests the victims were walking southbound on the west side of the Getz road when they were struck.     

Investigators are reviewing surveillance video from nearby homes and businesses. They hope the surveillance video and evidence left that the scene will help identify the suspect vehicle. Investigators said the suspect vehicle will have significant front-end damage on the passenger side in the area of the headlight. This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
