On Thursday, 11/23/2017, at approximately 6:40 PM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 4600 block of East Washington Blvd. reference a vehicle crash with injuries.  Initial reports indicated a vehicle struck a pedestrian and the pedestrian was injured.  Officers arrived on scene and located the adult/male victim unconscious and unresponsive in the middle of the roadway.  Paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.


Preliminary reports indicate the driver of the vehicle was eastbound on Washington Blvd. when the pedestrian was struck.  Witnesses reported the victim was wearing all dark clothing and standing in the middle of the roadway at the time of the crash.  It is unknown if the victim was walking in the roadway or attempting to cross the roadway prior to the crash.  Crash Investigators reported it does not appear alcohol was a factor in the crash.


This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.  The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim.  There are no additional details at this time.
