Fatal Motorcycle Accident

Fort Wayne police responded to the report of a motorcycle crash on Coliseum Boulevard at Sherman Boulevard at approximately 4:10 a.m. this morning. Once on scene officers found an unresponsive male down on Coliseum Boulevard just west of Sherman Boulevard. Medics pronounced the male deceased on the scene.


Investigators have determined that two motorcyclists were traveling west on Coliseum Boulevard approaching Sherman Boulevard, the traffic light at that intersection started to cycle to red for westbound traffic. The victim, in an attempt to beat the red light significantly increased his speed. A passenger car sitting on Sherman Boulevard turned left onto Coliseum Boulevard on the green light to go westbound. As it entered the intersection and was facing west it was struck in the rear by the motorcycle. The passenger car was occupied by the driver and a passenger, they were not injured.


Westbound Coliseum Boulevard was reduced to one lane of travel during the investigation. This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Fact Team, the Allen County Coroner’s office and the Allen County prosecutor’s office.
