Post Stranded Motorist
Can you tell me what the policy for FWPD is for a stranded motorist? I have recently heard someone say they have seen officers drive by stranded motorists without making contact, can this be true? Is there a policy in place for this? Thanks in advance for your reply and all that you do.

Hello u00bmt3,

If we are not dispatched to a higher priority call, then we shall stop to assist stranded motorists. We shall do this even when we are in an off-duty capacity and we are in a police vehicle. I am most certain that if you see a police vehicle drive past a stranded motorist it is because they are responding to a higher priority call. I am also most certain that the officer will advise the communications center of the location of the stranded motorist and have another police vehicle respond.

This is an excellent question. Thank you for posting it.
