With a License to Carry Handgun which is the "permit" that is issued in Indiana you can carry open or concealed just about anywhere. There are state laws against school buildings and property, and courthouses can legally ban weapons there. There are other places but those are the basics.
Indiana has complete state preemption of firearm laws and no political subdivision may make stricter laws than the state of Indiana. They also cannot make rules or enforce opinions regarding firearms on public property besides the before mentioned schools and courthouses. There are also public hospitals with security wards staffed by LEO 24/7 that are off limits but the only one I am aware of is Wishard in Indianapolis.
Private property including businesses can ask you to leave and they may post signs but signs by themselves do not carry weight of law in Indiana. In other words they cannot charge you with a crime for simply walking passed a sign that says "No Firearms" while you are carrying.
There are several forums devoted to firearms in the state of Indiana and I recommend you check them out to learn more as I cannot answer all of your questions in one short post.
