weapon used in self defense being confiscated

Post weapon used in self defense being confiscated 
This is really just been on my mind & was curious ,If a person uses a weapon in a clear case of self defense, will it be confiscated as evidence until the investigation into the incident is closed ??

Yes it would be placed in evidence until the investigation is complete and sometimes this is quite some time. As an example even our police weapons are placed in evidence and we dont get them back for months sometimes.

Yeah! your right. but i think it depends on what kind of weapon was use...
