Post Ride Along
I am interested in doing a ride along program with an FWPD officer. I understand that a person can only do one per year. Is that one per calendar year or does a person have to wait a full year if they have done one previously? Thank you for the clarification!

The ride along program is no longer open to the public "unless" you have been invited by an officer to ride with he or she on a given shift. One ride per calendar year from the date of the ride along.

Hi, I'm in the anthis criminal justice program at the PSA building and I was just wondering how I can get a ride along with a police officer. I'm interested in a ride along because I want to be a k9 police officer in the future and I also want to know what it is like first hand to be a police officer.

Unfortunately, we could not accommodate the high volume of requests that we were typically receiving and the ride-along program had to be suspended in 2009. At this time, considerations are made for requests that are submitted by officers, and usually those requests are for their family members or friends. It has long been recognized that the support of family members and friends is crucial for law enforcement officers in developing strategies to handle stress, and this is one way that the department is able to encourage that support system.

Thank you for your post.
