If we are not dispatched to a higher priority call, then we shall stop to assist stranded motorists. We shall do this even when we are in an off-duty capacity and we are in a police vehicle. I am most certain that if you see a police vehicle drive past a stranded motorist it is because they are responding to a higher priority call. I am also most certain that the officer will advise the communications center of the location of the stranded motorist and have another police vehicle respond.
