Critical Shooting Investigation

Location:  2300 E. Pontiac Street


Victims:    Male / Critical Condition




On Monday, 05/29/2017, at approximately 4:35 PM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 2300 block of East Pontiac Street reference a shooting.  Dispatch received several calls from citizens reporting a male in the alley was yelling for help.  Officers arrived on scene and located the male/adult victim lying in the east/west alley just south of Pontiac Street.  The victim was alert and conscious when officers located him.  He refused to cooperate and would not provide any details regarding the shooting.  Officers observed the victim was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.


Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital in serious condition.  Upon arriving at the hospital, the victim was downgraded to critical condition by a physician.


Detectives are going door to door speaking with residents in the neighborhood.  Crime Scene Technicians are processing the scene and collecting evidence.  There is no suspect information to provide at this time.


This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
