On Aug 10, 2017 at 8:02 pm the Fort Wayne Police department responded to a reported motor vehicle accident in the 3200 Block of E. Dupont Rd involving a car and a motorcycle. Initial information provided to officers advised that the driver of the motorcycle was injured.


Upon officers arrival on scene they located an adult male on the ground by the motorcycle suffering from injuries. Paramedics arrived on the scene and transported the driver to a local hospital in critical condition.


The Fort Wayne Police Department Crash Investigation Team was called to the scene to investigate the accident. Initial reports indicate that the driver of the motorcycle was traveling west on Dupont at a high rate of speed. As the motorcycle entered into the intersection of Dupont and I-69 it struck the rear of a vehicle in front of the motorcycle.


The driver of the other vehicle involved was not injured and Initial investigation indicates that speed was a factor in this accident. It is unknown if the driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The Crash Investigation Team is on scene and processing the evidence at this time and there is a portion of Dupont Rd closed over I-69 at this time. Investigators believe that the road should be fully open around 11:00 pm


This incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department.
