On June 20th, 2017 at approximately 9:12 pm Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responed to the intersection of Calhoun St. and Killea St. in regards to a hit skip vehicle accident involving a bicyclist. Preliminary investigation indicates that an adult male left the Belmont liquor store and got on his bicycle.  The male was either crossing Calhoun St. or riding on Calhoun St. when he was struck by a passenger car.


The passenger car did not stop, but continued in its travel leaving the bicyclist injured.  Medics made the scene and rendered care to the injured bicyclist.  Medics advised that the victim was in serious condition at the scene.  The injured male was transported by TRAA to a local hospital, were he was downgraded to critical condition.


The Fatal Accident Crash Team made the scene to process all potential evidence.  Officers searched the area for the suspect vehicle.


This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutors Office.
