Male/27 years old/Fort Wayne


Charges:          Neglect of a Dependant (Level 3 Felony)

Criminal Recklessness (Level 5 Felony)

Resisting Law Enforcement (A Misdemeanor)




On November 28, 2017 at 8:55 pm Detectives from the Fort Wayne Police Department Gang Unit along with additional Investigators were in the area of the 2800 block of Knode Ct. attempting to locate Trumarkis Alexander in reference to a Body Standards Warrant. Detectives were able to make visual contact with Trumarkis at which time they identified themselves as Police Officers. Trumarkis then fled back into the home. A short time later a flash bang was used to try to compel Trumarkis to exit the house and surrender to investigators. Immediately after the flash bang was deployed there was a gunshot heard from inside the home Trumarkis had fled into striking the home next door. Nobody was injured in the neighboring home


The Emergency Services Team and the Crisis Response Team were both paged to the scene at 9:37 pm. Upon arrival on scene they began to speak with Trumarkis by phone as well as by loud speakers. Trumarkis was not complying with any of the commands that he was given. The Emergency Services Team began to move towards the home to deploy tear gas. Prior to tear gas being deployed Trumarkis exited the home as was taken into custody by Emergency Services Team members without incident at 1134 pm. He was then transported to the Police Headquarters to be interviewed and then was subsequently charged, and taken to the Allen County Jail


There were several streets closed around the home in questions as a precaution during this incident for Public Safety as well as officers safety. The streets were all re-opened after the incident was completed. There were no injuries reported during this incident.


This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department as well as the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office
