At approximately 1:00 p.m. this afternoon Fort Wayne police responded to the Fifth/Third Bank located at 6026 Lima Road on a hold up alarm. While enroute it was learned that the bank had in fact been robbed.
Detectives learned that a male white in his early twenties entered the bank, approached a teller and handed her a note indicating that he was robbing the bank. The male, who never displayed a weapon, was given an undisclosed amount of cash then left the bank on foot in a southerly direction. He was said to be 6’2” tall with a thin build, short hair, wearing a red and black striped jacket. The teller also described the male as having a large nose and unshaven. A K9 track was attempted but not successful in locating the male. Anyone that might have seen this suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 436-STOP (436-7867).
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s office and the FBI.
